prologue of Lodoss

The glorious era of the Gods was drawing to a close. Heaven and Earth trembled as the armies of Falis, God of Light, clashed with those of Falaris, God of Darkness. The deadly battle continued day and night, with one single survivor left for both sides eventually: Marfa, Goddess of Creation and Kardis, Goddess of Destruction. As the once invincible forces of the goddesses died away, a new land was born, broken away from the rest of the continent.

Thousands of years have passed. The land to the south of continent Alicrast is now known as Lodoss, the cursed Island.

Parn

Parn's father Tessius was once known as one of the greatest knights in Valis. However, a tragedy of the past had left the family name in shame. When Parn was still quite young, monsters of Lodoss attacked his village and he took his father's sword to fight back. Due to lack of experience, he couldn't face the leader of the monsters and was about to lose his life when Slayn the wizard came to his rescue. As the villagers forced him to leave, Parn swore that he'll one day restore the old peace to Lodoss in order to honor his family.

Parn was not a fully-trained fighter to begin with, therefore his adventure started with a handful of mistakes. However, all of Parn's companions admired his determination and devotion to his goal. Eventually, Parn was invited by King Fahn as a knight serving for the country of Valis.

Parn's life style changed drastically as he met Deedlit, a High Elf who was determined to stay with him for the rest of his time. Though Parn didn't understand what Deedlit saw in him at first, he slowly learned how to return the girl's feelings as they travelled everywhere together. Everything turned upside down, however, when Deedlit was taken away by Wagnard the Wizard to be sacrificed for the revival of Kardis. It was Parn's love and courage that would save not only Deedlit but also the future of Lodoss, thus earning himself the title, Knight of Lodoss, by the end of his journey.
